Raised to adulthood 3 sons and 1 daughter.
My first baby’s birth did not go the way I dreamed. An induction led to the “cascade of interventions” ending in a cesarean surgical birth. There was trauma to heal. But God would use that birth to direct my path into a more healthy & natural way of living.
This is where He ignited my fire….
To learn to care for my family (and in later years serving other families). My next 3 babies were born at home, attended by midwives, family, friends and children. There was a pregnancy loss, but then we were blessed with a rainbow baby girl. Birth is my passion—I am in awe and do not doubt what women were created to be able to traverse in order to bring new life into this world. AND I love babies! (See how well that works out)
• Hiking fills my heart, it’s outdoors, sun on my skin, time with loved ones, real conversations, deep connections and memories.
• I think plants make a home feel alive.
• The very best non-dairy ice cream is Cosmic Bliss IMO
• 80s music still makes me get up and dance!
With 4 kids ages 14-5 and 4 babes in heaven I have had a variety of experiences in my own births. Home births, hospital transfers, and so many wonderful people to support and hold me along the way. I got into birth work after the birth of my second baby and have spent years gathering experience, resources, and a bag full of tricks to support women in their own journeys.
I am a firm believer that there is no right or wrong way to give birth - what will be right for you will depend on your own personality, beliefs, and history - but my heart will forever be drawn to home births and the gentle, holistic, individualized care found outside the mainstream system.
I spend every second I can spare hunched over my garden, in deep conversations with friends, watching a geeky si-fi show with my husband, or hanging outside with my kiddos, and talking to Jesus through it all.
Mom of four boys and 1 angel in heaven.
I’ve had the honor of having two unmedicated hospital births, one birth center birth and one home birth.
As I’ve experienced each phase of my births, I’ve learned more about myself and women each time. The resilience and strength God pours into us when we’re on the threshold of our hardest breaking moment, is a once in a lifetime experience - one I’m in awe of every time.
Plant nerd, coffee addict and birth obsessed. When I’m not busy at births or editing photos, I’m spending the day with my babies, watering plants and feeding my chickens (I got you for an egg hookup too).
I can’t wait to hold, love and pray for you along this journey.
